The Government of Montenegro will restore the maritime line with Italy, and the ferry on the Bar – Ancona route could start operating again in 2024, it was concluded during the meeting between Prime Minister Milojko Spajic and the head of the Adria Ferries company Alberto Rossi, the Government has announced.

The ferry will be the fastest connection between Montenegro and Western Europe.

It was established that the opening of this route could have a positive effect on tourism in both countries, and the citizens of Northern Italy are particularly interested in coming to Montenegro.

It was emphasized that it is very important to include Montenegrin companies in the project, and the Prime Minister pointed out that in this way it would be possible for the Barska and Crnogorska shipping companies to bring additional value to Montenegro.

The first analyzes showed that during the summer season the route would function without problems, and that it is necessary to work additionally on the promotion of traffic during the winter period.

The meeting was attended by the ambassador of Italy in Montenegro Andreana Marcela, company president Mauro Maia and director Roberto Mattaloni.
