The Social Democratic Party, led by Ranko Krivokapic, for the second time today called on the now former party members Ivan Brajovic and Vujica Lazovic to return ministerial mandates to the SDP. The party believes that staying in the “hijacked” functions would represent “classic usurpation and abuse, which casts a shadow on the legitimacy of the government itself at a crucial moment for NATO integration of Montenegro”.
As Brajovic’s team has stated, the real SDP breakers are now trying to clear their conscience, attacking those who have done everything they could to preserve party unity “from those who could not even imagine their lives without the street glamour and bodyguard circus their positions bring”.
The team has ironically remarked that such behaviour causes “great enthusiasm of all citizens, particularly residents of Kotor”.
According to the statement, the Deputy Prime Minister, Vujica Lazovic, and Minister Ivan Brajovic owe their mandates to citizens who supported them on 2012 general election because of the principles and objectives of the programme which the remaining part of the SDP gave up.
“It is obvious that since the local election in Podgorica, there has been, fortunately unsuccessful, attempt of transferring the honourable SDP to the Democratic Front, which even its leaders do not try to hide,” it has been stated.
“Commitment and accountability to citizens have been our only motives to leave the party, thus preserving the original idea of social democracy which does not exist in the SDP any more. We know for sure that in the executive branch the idea has been best represented by the Mr Lazovic and Mr Brajovic. Anything else would be a classic party dictatorship over the original choice of voters in the 2012 general elections. For those who flagrantly violate the coalition agreement would be politically more ethical not to participate in the Government but to gather the political courage and finally put their cards on the table. The very policy of objectless swimming in troubled waters has degraded support to the idea of true social democracy to the lowest level since its existence,” Brajovic’s team has said.
The team has suggested that the SDP need to turn around and “see that very few of those whose courage they swore in until yesterday, are currently with them”.
“All of them have recognised that recently personal frustrations of the leader have become party politics,” it has been concluded.
