The entire business community is against the planned increase in excise taxes on tobacco, alcoholic drinks, fizzy drinks and sweets, which was announced yesterday at the session of the Parliamentary Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget, tackling the 2021 budget proposal, Dan daily writes.
The business community urged the Finance Minister Milojko Spajić and the government to give up on the planned increase in excise taxes, claiming that it would have a negative impact on the budget due to the estimated likely growth of grey economy.
In case the proposed solutions are adopted, the price of a pack of cigarettes will go up by around 30 to 50 cent as of 1 July, a liter of carbonated beverage by 12 cent, a kilo of sweets by 72 cent, while the price of alcoholic drinks will increase from 7 to 15 cent depending on the type and the amount of alcohol.
