The Constitutional Court Council will decide at the next session on the complaint of former chancellor Radmila Vojvodic, which she had earlier filed on behalf of the University of Montenegro (UCG) over alleged violation of the autonomy of that institution by the government.
Although some media reported that the three-member council was supposed to decide on Vojvodic’s complaint yesterday, the Constitutional Court told Dnevne Novine that the case was not at the yesterday’s agenda.
“The Constitutional Court Council’s decision has not been postponed, but it has not been decided on that matter at all. This case will be decided upon at the next council’s session,” the Constitutional Court explained.
Vojvodic filed the lawsuit because the government allegedly violated the autonomy of the UCG in case of solving the issue of the High Medical School in Berane. After her dismissal, the acting chancellor Danilo Nikolic withdrew the lawsuit.
According to the regulations, the Constitutional Court may, in this case, suspend further proceedings due to the withdrawal of the appeal. But it also may continue the proceedings if it finds it necessary to do so due to respect for the rule of law, ie the protection of human rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution.
