Apart from the current rise in material prices due to the Russian-Ukrainian war, builders and investors face problems because many projects are being implemented slowly and no amendments to the Spatial Planning and Construction of Structures Law are being made. In addition, the unstable political situation in the country is not favorable for the investments.
In a statement for Pobjeda daily, Mile Grujic, the Chair of the Board of the Association for Construction and Construction Material Industry within the Chamber of Commerce, says that the rise in construction material prices, fuel prices and other resources in the construction industry is massive, cannot be controlled and foreseen.
He further explains that the Law on Public Procurements is very strict when it comes to the prices and can be changed by 20% only in exceptional cases.
Mr Grujic adds that Ukraine is a large producer of iron and polyethylene, and production and transport have been stopped due to the war.
