The judicial panel of the Court of Appeals revoked the first-instance verdict in the case of an attempted terrorist act on Montenegro’s election day in October 2016, and returned the case for retrial to the High Court in Podgorica, as the first-instance body, before a completely new judicial panel.
“The panel revoked the first-instance verdict because significant violations of the criminal procedure provisions were committed in the passing of the verdict and the verdict itself, due to which neither factual nor legal conclusions in the first-instance verdict could be accepted, both concerning the existence of the criminal offenses for which the accused were found guilty and concerning the existence of their guilt for those offenses”, reads the statement issued on the website of the Court of Appeals.
Moreover, the panel decided to immediately release from custody the accused retired Serbian police general, Bratislav Dikić.
One of the leaders of the Democratic Front (DF) and the president of the Movement for Change (PZP), Mr. Nebojša Medojević, also confirmed that the first-instance verdict in this case had been revoked.
