He said that it can be seen now that both leaderships of the countries restrained themselves from negative comments which provided a possibility for everyone to express their arguments regarding the issue, and eventually mutual interest of the countries prevailed.
„Agreement on the national border between B&H and Montenegro is the most important and most significant agreement that these two countries signed of all the bilateral agreements since they recognized each other internationally and started with diplomatic relations. This agreement is primarily significant because it resolves a very difficult political and legally complicated issue which is also emotionally complex and sensitive, an issue that is in international relations usually considered the most complex and difficult one”, said Latinovic in an interview to Pobjeda.
„Foreign trade among the two countries is increasing every year. That is a good foundation for active improvement and expansion of economic cooperation in the future. B&H is, as the records show, very firmly positioned in regards to Montenegro. We are the third biggest foreign trade partner to Montenegro, in both imports and exports”, he said and added that there are a couple of ways to improve economic cooperation.
First is, as Latinovic emphasized, to continue with efforts on improving transport, road and railway infrastructure.
„We should continue with projects that were started in road infrastructure, like the road Sarajevo-Podgorica, via Scepan Polje. Both countries are working on something here and funds from international institutions have been provided for this. Second project is railway Niksic-Capljina, which requires a more serious financial invetment. We also have to mention airline transport between these two countries. During the season there is an operational connection Tivat-Banja Luka. Though this wasn’t the case this year because of internal problems of our airline company. The matter of connection Podgorica-Sarajevo remains open, although economic analysis shows that this connection would not be profitable at this moment. What is lacking is mutual investments”, said Latinovic.
