The government, following a proposal from the Ministry of Education, Science, and Innovation, has introduced a new regulation that sets detailed fees for taking the driving test and compensating certified examiners. The regulation defines the costs of both the theoretical and practical parts of the exam for all vehicle categories, aiming to bring greater transparency and uniformity to the process.
Candidates will pay €20 for the theoretical exam. The practical exam costs €20 for smaller vehicle categories (such as AM, A1, A2, A, B1, and B) and €30 for larger ones (such as B+E, C, D, and T).
In addition to these fees, examiners are compensated with €1.50 per candidate for the theoretical exam, plus an additional €0.20 if the test is conducted electronically, while for the practical exam, they receive €2.50 for smaller vehicle categories (A, A1, A2, B1, B) and €4.00 for larger ones (B+E and above).
Examiners are also entitled to travel reimbursement calculated at 15% of the fuel price per kilometre, accommodation costs up to €40 per night (including breakfast and VAT) if the exam location is at least 65 kilometres from their residence, and daily allowances where applicable.
Candidates are eligible for a 50% reimbursement of certain costs outlined in Article 3 of the regulation.
The government states that this decision ensures a transparent and fair cost structure for both candidates and examiners involved in the driving test process.
