State Secretary for Energy in the Ministry of Capital Investments, Marko Perunovic, is a member of the Board of Directors of the Podgorica-based company, Energogas, although it’s contrary to the Law on Prevention of Corruption, which precisely says that a public official cannot be a president, authorized representative or member of the management or supervisory body, or the executive director or member of the management in a company.
In addition, the scope of activities of Energogas falls under competencies of the Ministry of Capital Investments, so it may be concluded that State Secretary Perunovic is in the conflict of interest. Besides, Energogas is owned by Srbijagas, the company wholly-onwed by the state of Serbia.
The ministry doesn’t see nothing wrong with this, adding that Mr Perunovic has been the member of the Board of Directors of the Energogas company since 13 May 2021 and “was elected on the request of the company’s trade union as well as representatives of the owner – the Srbijagas company”. According to them, Mr Perunovic hasn’t received reimbursement for that engagement so far.
