The works began on the Boulevard of Mihailo Lalic in the neighbourhood of Tolosi, and the route will pass by the King’s Park and the Hilton, across the Boulevards of Sveti Petar Cetinjski and Mihailo Lalic, to the crossroads with the Street of Vlado Cetkovic in Tolosi.
The Manager of the Capital, Dragutin Djekovic, previously announced that, in addition to bike paths, a pedestrian walkway was also to be constructed.
The construction of bicycle paths has represented a donation from China, and works are performed by the company “Bemax”. This company will construct the path for pedestrians from its own sources. The donation for the construction of bicycle paths is €200 thousand worth.
It was pointed out that the bicycle paths would not only contribute to improvement of transport infrastructure and reducing traffic congestion.
“In addition to the obvious of benefits for bicycle traffic as well as city’s transport subsystem, this project will unequivocally improve the quality of life in the Capital, and it is aimed at strengthening identity of Podgorica, promoting healthy lifestyles and concept of sustainable mobility and raising environmental awareness of citizens of all ages. At the same time, it is significant for the overall development of tourism and tourism offer, particularly when it comes to recreational tourism,” the Capital had earlier communicated.
