Krivokapic and the councellor of American president and senior director of Europe in National council for security (council within the White House) Charles Kupchan emphasized the importance of our country’s role in peace keeping missions, and described Montenegro as a reliable partner in keeping the peace.
During the meeting with Kupchan focus was the issue of Montenegrin membership in North-Atlantic alliance, it was announced from Krivokapic’s office.
“During this year, out of all adopted laws in Montenegrin parliament, 40 percent were related to rule of law, fight against corruption and strengthening of independence of key institutions”, emphasized Krivokapic.
Ranko Krivokapic also met John Heferen – deputy of the assistant of the state secretary Victoria Nuland, in charge of Europe and Eurasia. During their meeting in White House it was noted that USA appreciates the efforts and steps that our country is making on its way to NATO membership. It was emphasized that Montenegro will have strong support for processes that contribute to security and stability of the region, striving for peace, as well as strengthening the democracy through strong rule of law.
Krivokapic also met Mark Lagon in Washington – president of the Freedom house. Meeting was used to discuss the topic of freedom of the media and respect of the human rights.
It was particularly emphasized in the meeting that Freedom house is intensively following the situation in media and the level of respect of human rights, and that only with common efforts systematic solutions can be made that will be the guarantee and the protection of the profession and personal dignity.
