The statement of Minister of Finance and Social Welfare Milojko Spajic, which was triumphantly repeated by PM Zdravko Krivokapic, that the so-called Marshall Plan is supported by 85% of Montenegrin citizens, has no foundation in the relevant public opinion polls conducted by organizations and agencies that professionally deal with these polls.
The Ministry of Finance and Social Affairs says that Minister Spajic refers to the polls that could be found in certain media, which Minister Spajic also confirmed at the press conference with the IMF representatives.
However, if that information is used by state officials to promote their projects it is highly frivolous. There is no known example that in the process of adopting the budget of any country, its officials refer to media polls as the relevant ones. They can certainly be an indicator, but they should not be presented as official data used by any state body, not to mention ministers and prime ministers.
