At yesterday’s cabinet meeting, the government approved emergency support to municipalities in the northern region for the most urgent needs of remedying earthquake damage. Already today, it paid €70,000 to the Municipality of Plav, €50,000 to Gusinje, €40,000 to Andrijevica and €30,000 to Berane. Plav mayor Orhan Sahmanovic told CdM that even if the government had given 10 times more, it wouldn’t be enough to address the consequences.
“Given the situation, I cannot be satisfied, but it is good that we have received these funds to try preventively and urgently act where necessary. Having in mind the consequences of the earthquake, even if the government had paid 10 times higher sum, it would not be enough,” said Sahmanovic.
More than 700 citizens of Plav reported damage to their homes. There are no new claims for damage assessment.
“Over 20 houses should be demolished. Ten of the families living in those houses are accommodated at their relatives,” said Sahmanovic.
