I believe it because it’s absurd – Tertullian of Carthage allegedly said.
He didn’t, but it doesn’t matter.
Speaking from the perspective of the early Christians, he said that those believing that the son of God had died did so, as it was absurd; and that it was true that Christ had resurrected, just because it was impossible.
Religion and politics, even in this desecularized Montenegro, are not the same. And that’s the problem for Milojko Spajic.
Who asks us to believe that, by running a government controlled by the Belgrade-Moscow infantry, a government led by Mandic and filled and maintained by Mandic and Knezevic, he, just like that, with these two, will bring us to the EU.
Spajic asks us to believe it, just because it’s absurd. He says it’s true, just because it’s impossible.
Goddammit. It just doesn’t work. We don’t believe it, because it’s impossible. For what it’s worth: we believe that Spajic’s request is pointless, precisely because it is pointless.
Do you remember when he compared Mandic with Dalai Lama? Has it stood the test of time? Of course, it’s a joke. What he said was absurd at the time, and is absurd now. Just like it’s going to be pointless tomorrow. In this or any other space and time realm.
At this point, practically it doesn’t matter whether he really thinks what he’s saying. The only thing that matters is this: no sane person can think alike. You don’t know what’s worse: if Spajic really thinks like that or if he’s just pretending. You don’t know what’s worse: stupidity or mimicry.
If we judge by actions, not words, Spajic’s strategy goes like this: the more Vucic’s and Putin’s influence on the Government of Montenegro, the faster Montenegro’s EU accession. Why? Because both Belgrade and Moscow are interested in preventing Montenegro from entering the EU. But that’s absurd, you would say. Of course it is: that’s why Spajic asks you to believe it.
And don’t be fooled by the fact that the Prime Minister’s Dalai Manda is constantly engaged in identity politics – it just means that the government’s focus is on the economy. Don’t be fooled by the fact that Mandic is constantly stirring tensions in Montenegro – that’s his way of reconciling it. But wait, that’s absurd, you would say. Of course it is. That’s exactly why you should believe it.
When Dajkovic says he will demand the removal of Tito’s bust from Podgorica – don’t be fooled by that either. It actually means that the new government is dedicated to anti-fascism. Well, you are not fools to believe in something that makes sense…
When the ruling majority sticks a log in Croatia’s eye, hoping that it’s going to block Montenegro’s EU path – don’t be fooled by that either. Actually, it’s an act of commitment to the EU integration.
And so on and so forth. We can continue like this until tomorrow. But let’s sum up.
To those who claim that the road to Brussels leads through Ravna Gora and Moscow, it’s only possible to say what I said to some of my former, fake friends the other day: don’t talk bullshit, please.
