During the meeting with Prince Nikola, Prime Minister Milojko Spajic has said the Government of Montenegro is ready to regulate the status of the Montenegrin royal family, Petrovic Njegos, by the end of the year. Earlier, the Prime Minister posted on X, formerly Twitter, that the Petrovic Njegos dynasty would be fully rehabilitated, believing that “it’s in the interest of the whole society to cherish and encourage our great tradition, just a few European countries can brag about”.
He added that cooperation between the government and parliament should finally complete the process, as several legal obligations toward the dynasty have remained unfulfilled for the past 13 years.
The meeting also addressed the dynasty’s potential role in strengthening Montenegro’s diplomatic ties with European royal families, seen as important for the country’s EU accession path.
