Daily newspaper Dnevne Novine adds the state will get from Monterock an additional three percent in taxes on turnover.
Monterock, owned by businessman Petros Stathis, announced for Dnevne Novine that they will invest additional five to ten million euros in the hotel before the summer, as part of the first phase of the reconstruction of the hotel, out of the planned 20 million that will be spent after the tourist season.
Monterock primarily bought 75 percent of hotel’s ownership from Slovenian HIT, which at the time had 82 percent.
The remaining 25 percent was bought through bankruptcy proceedings in Slovenia, after a ‘Diamond’ company went bankrupt. At the end, the purchase price amounted to over 31 million, and so togethrt with total investment and reconstruction, the number will exceed 51 million euros.
Reconstruction will be performed in stages, so that the hotel will remain constantly open.
Monterock notes that they will be retaining the old management of Casino Maestral, which will continue to do the same job as before. Maestral will thus soon get five instead of the current four stars.
In the first phase, the number of workers will be increased and old and dilapidated infrastructure reconstructed, together with the SPA center, entrance and lobby. After the season, a more demanding reconstruction of rooms will be launched, also in stages, to ensure that the hotel is always open.
The former general manager of Grand Casino Belgrade and company MVI Investments in Serbia, Hristos Tsemperas, was appointed in late November as the new director of Maestral.
Tsemperas is well known in the world of tourism and hospitality. His career spans over 30 years during which he worked in various positions in the hospitality and tourism industry.
He comes from a family of hoteliers, and he worked in management positions in the tourism industry in Greece, France, Egypt and Serbia.
