Mission: Rehabilitation of DF
I know that even these few days are not uninteresting in terms of the daily review, from the arrest of Verica Maras, to Rade Milosevic’s friendship with a girl from criminal circles and the recycling of the investigation into Djukanovic’s loan, but no matter how interesting the daily routine and the daily tape is, there are some issues that we need to process a little more comprehensively. These issues have the ambition to determine the main direction of our politics in the long term.
Such is the issue of one of the strategies for getting out of the political crisis, which strategist Zeljko Ivanovic put in front of himself, his newspaper, and politically close URA, and then it was elaborated a bit by his correspondent from Brussels, Zeljko Pantelic, to whom invisible friends from the EU administration often reveal secrets, which the Serbian World’s readership is always hungry and eager for.
The strategy for getting out of the political crisis is to change the narrative. There is no more story – “DPS and DF are two sides of the same coin”. Now the goal is to convince DF to detach itself from Russia, to Westernize, and to completely rehabilitate itself ideologically, and then, on the other hand, to convince the West that DF is clean, and that it can be talked to and that it can be relied on.
The strategy has the working title “If it can be done with Vucic, then it can be done with DF” and Zeljko is well aware of the weakness of the West, which is trying to convert the Serbian leadership through the policy of appeasement. It is the same policy that encouraged Putin to do what he is doing in Ukraine now.
It seems that Abazovic, Ivanovic and the company were cornered against the wall and that they launched an all-out attack on Djukanovic. For this, they currently have the levers of power – the technical government, a large number of media of a wide spectrum, the Prosecutor’s Office and the police. They only lack the judiciary to close the circle. That’s why they need the DF’s support to vote for an orthodox Judicial Council, in order to increase the efficiency of the judiciary, but only when it comes to one side of politics in Montenegro, the one that Vijesti previously determined to be a bomb in the foundations of Montenegro.
Mandic and Knezevic are not dangerous and extreme, they have only been radicalized by the “Americans, DPS and ‘Bemax authors’” as Ivanovic claimed in a recent column. That is why DPS and Bemax authors should be arrested, and the Americans should be convinced that DF is ready for conversion.
The Mandic and Knezevic case relating to the coup d’état should be closed then, as well as Medojevic case for financial malfeasance, and then probably the case of Carevic and others employed at managerial positions. In the meantime, DF, that is, NSD, are not sitting still, but are taking over Montenegro little by little, with the assistance of Vijesti. The criminal-street government in Budva, for example, was created with the media support of the mentioned media company and Mr. Juskovic, the head of the enforcement administration, who is also a frequent guest of the “elite” of Putin’s Russia.
The similar thing applies to Niksic.
This strategy is morally bland just as the pathological fixation on Djukanovic is dangerous for the authors of the strategy themselves. It’s just that they don’t see it because of the delirium. Mandic and Knezevic are followers of Vucic, as long as Vucic holds the power in his hands in Belgrade. Vucic is a servant of the Kremlin, even though everyone pretends to believe him that he is escaping from its clutches. But for us in Montenegro, that, although important, is not of existential importance. Pro-Western Greater Serbia is nothing but Greater Serbia. If Greater Serbia is rejected from Moscow’s breast and finds adoption in the West, we may be in an even worse situation. And then nobody will need Zeljko Ivanovic and Vijesti. Then it will be completely irrelevant whether the CEO of the local branch of United Media will be Gojko Raicevic or Drazen Zivkovic. Because there isn’t neither a Greek nor a Jew in the Serbian World.
The hope of the West that Belgrade will turn to it does great damage to the trust in that same West among those in the Balkans. If Greater Serbia is forgiven for the ‘90s, and if the narrative “all nationalisms are the same”, “all are guilty” and “both sides need to be restrained” is implemented in every country, we will take a safe step towards the relativization and rehabilitation of Greater Serbia, which this time returns hidden in lambskin.
