President of Montenegro Jakov Milatovic has scheduled a meeting of the Defense and Security Council for 11:00 a.m. today, to discuss the Chief of the General Staff of the Montenegrin Army, Brigadier General Zoran Lazarevic.
On 28 August 2024, Defense Minister Dragan Krapovic submitted a proposal to the Defense and Security Council to dismiss Lazarevic because of his assessment that a generational change and rejuvenation of the army’s officer cadre was needed. However, the Supreme Command rejected it because there was no consensus among its members.
Yet, Krapovic is not giving up on the dismissal of Lazarevic and yesterday, at the extraordinary press conference, he announced that he had informed the Supreme State Prosecutor Milorad Markovic that he had knowledge of Lazarevic’s illegal activities.
