The average net salary in Montenegro was €1,036 in June, according to MONSTAT, representing a 0.3% increase from May and a 2.6% increase compared with June last year. The highest average salary by sector was recorded in finance and insurance at €1,673, followed by electricity, gas and air conditioning supply at €1,479 and information and communications at €1,308. The lowest was in administrative and support service activities, at €870.
Significant differences were also recorded between municipalities. Tivat had the highest average net salary at €1,215, followed by Podgorica at €1,085 and Zeta at €1,112, while Gusinje recorded the lowest at €840. Other major municipalities included Kotor at €1,040, Niksic at €1,019, Budva at €991 and Herceg Novi at €975.
The gap between the municipality with the highest and lowest average salary was therefore €375. The largest month-on-month increase in average salaries was recorded in construction, at 1.5%, followed by mining and quarrying at 1.1% and administrative and support services at 1%.
